I know what you’re thinking- that we are on some sort of spree with our coverage of Southeast Asian Eid 2025 commercials. But when you come across marketing masterpieces like these, you just can’t overlook them. But while we have so far covered emotional and heartwarming ad campaigns from this region, our #FunnyFridays segment needed something humorous, and Southeast Asian ads were there to my rescue. Also, I found their overall messaging deeper than their humor.

So, here we are with 5 funny Southeast Asian Eid 2025 commercials that surprised their audiences with profound messages.
1. Etiqa: Young Arif
We often tend to perceive things in a certain way and put our thoughts across honestly. However, there’s an attribute that is even bigger than honesty- it’s gratitude!
The ad showcases a young kid sharing his views on what he thought of the different members of his family. And boy, he is hilarious, although borderline offensive too! Not only does he poke fun at the cooking, ironing, and plumbing skills of his mother, sister, and uncle, respectively, but also reveals that he feels that his aunt always acts busy so that nobody asks her when she will get married. And this is where the ad stopped being funny!
But just before one were to lose their temper over the boy’s rather offensive statements, his father imparts a valuable lesson to him. His father urges him to see the sincerity behind the efforts of everyone instead of gauging them only by their skills. That perfectly sums up Eid too– being helpful to someone even if you are not entirely upto it!
2. Tenaga Nasional: Kenangan Raya Aida
Eid festivities are at their best when it’s celebrated with everyone around and this advert by Malaysia’s largest electricity utility company, Tenaga Nasional, proves that with a tinge of humor.
The ad showcases a homemaker making several requests to her husband for the next year’s Eid like hiring a catering service, using QR code-enabled duit Raya, and celebrating Eid in a hotel room. Interestingly, the husband’s answer to all these requests is pretty much the same, bordering around the spirit of togetherness and the personal touch that lays the foundation of almost every festival.
The husband’s smart answering surely prevented a hole in his pocket!
3. Muslim.Sg: Kecoh Kan?
Some go to the mosque for prayers. Some go for peace. Some go searching for something they can’t put into words. Behind every smile, there’s a story. This 8-minute short film sheds light on quite a few such stories, albeit in a funny way.
The ad opens with a girl visiting the mosque with her mother, where she gives brief descriptions of different characters at the mosque, from the nosy aunt and mosque kid to the shy new Chinese convert. However, as the ad progresses, we find out about the struggles of each of these characters.

4. MR.DIY: Raya Penuh Makna
Home improvement retailer MR D.I.Y. Group served up a fun Wes Anderson-esque film as part of its Eid 2025 campaign. The ad underscores that Raya festivities go beyond vanity and taking care of one’s appearances, and is more about unity, gratitude, and creating unforgettable moments with loved ones.
The ad follows the story of Diyanna, who wants to fit into her favorite Raya outfit by resisting the temptation of her beloved treats. The spot opens with a scene of an immigration hall, decked out with Raya decorations and a board counting down to syawal (the start of a new month on the Islamic calendar). Soon, it is revealed that the hall is a reflection of Diyanna’s digestive system, where her beloved treats are queuing up in hopes of being accepted.
However, Diyanna’s resolve to fit into her favorite Raya outfit by Raya makes her deny foods like kuih lapis (layered cake), chocolate, banana fritters, and fried chicken. Only healthy and low calorific foods that fit her diet like broccoli and ketupat are allowed in.
However, her grandmother reminds her that Hari Raya is not just about appearances. It is about gratitude, togetherness, and memories, which makes Diyanna embrace the true joy of the celebration.
5. Julie’s Biscuits: Selamat Lari Raya
And here’s my favorite spot on this list. In this story of love, plenty of metaphorical running, and maybe a prison haunting, a harmless grandpa dives into a life of crime, determined to set his grandson free.
Honestly, I do not want to give you any spoilers about this gem of an advert, nor am I too keen to review this commercial as words won’t suffice to communicate its marketing value. So, watch the ad to find out why I rated it so highly.
Wrapping Up
And that’s a wrap of yet another #FunnyFridays segment. Eid advertising usually hinges heavily on demonstrating the true virtues of humanity in a solemn and heartfelt way. However, the ads covered in this blog bring a refreshing change to this trend as they communicate the same ideas with a dash of humor.
We’ll be back with more mind-blowing ad campaigns for you. Till then, stay tuned!
