Eid advertising often revolves around the bonds of love shared between families, the sacrifices made for one another, and the significance of forgiveness. So, it’s hardly a surprise that most Eid ad campaigns have a recurring theme, which follows the journey from misunderstanding to realization- children coming to terms with the silent sacrifices of their parents, feeling the weight of regret, and seeking redemption. These stories of love, loss, regrets, and second chances not only resonate deeply with the audiences but also urge them to cherish the presence of their loved ones before it’s too late.

So, here we are with 5 moving Southeast Asian Eid 2025 short films that masterfully capture these emotions, leaving viewers both teary-eyed and inspired.
1. Perkeso: Demi Kasih
As children, we often tend to take our parents for granted. Parents, on the other hand, are so consumed by their love for their children that they often go the extra mile to tend to even some of their most unreasonable demands, even if it breaks their hearts in a million pieces. This short film by the Malaysian social security organization Perkeso unfolds one such story.
The film shows a man returning to his home along with his wife and young daughter. But his mannerism clearly communicates a sense of loss burdened by immense guilt. Later in the ad, we find out that the man’s father had met with an unfortunate accident while trying to set up the house to his son’s liking so that he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable there when he returns during the Eid holidays.
Thankfully, the man realizes how insignificant the material world is when compared to the loving and reassuring presence of his parents and begs for their forgiveness.
2. Seng Cars: Aku Bengang Dengan Mak
Sometimes, what hurts the most are not the words that are spoken, but the ones that are never expressed. This poignant short film by the Malaysian car dealer Seng Cars beautifully captures the agony, guilt, and sadness when a person realizes the immense love that those unspoken words had always been concealing.
The ad follows the story of a young man whose grief for losing his mother starts ebbing away when he finds out that she has transferred the ownership of their house to his brother’s name in her will. This opens the floodgates to his childhood memories of being constantly neglected by his mother, who always favored his brother.
But a call from her mother’s lawyer informing him about the large sum of money that she’s left for him not only placates his anger but also fills him with guilt for having misunderstood his mother when all that she was trying to do was to ensure a better future for him.
The next time you think you feel neglected by your parents, remember this short film and understand that you are always in their thoughts even if they don’t express it out loud.
3. Lalamove: Secukupnya Raya Ini
Here’s another advert that will probably make you feel like falling at your parents’ feet and asking for their forgiveness if you have ever hurt them through your words, thoughts, or actions.
Malaysian on-demand, same-day delivery service company Lalamove released this short film that showcases a young daughter who is crossed at her father for not doing anything special for Eid and her birthday, both of which fall on the same day. But while the daughter resents her father for not doing enough for her, the father does something small but special the next day, which not only makes her feel better but also apologize to him for her behavior.
Watch the film to find out what the father did to restore the smile on his daughter’s face.
4. Gardenia: Kongsi Kasih
The greatest love is the one that’s shared and Malaysian bakery brand Gardenia reinforces this lovely idea through this heartwarming short film.
The film showcases a young girl being upset at her dad for not giving her enough time. But when her mother shows her a video of the happiness that her father brings into the lives of many other children like her, she feels the urge to see her dad at work. Once there, she finds out that her father leaves home early every morning to deliver bread packets to the local orphanage and shelter homes for old people. This way, he ensured that everyone received some of his love and care.
As I said, the greatest love is the one that’s shared!
5. Bank Rakyat: Salam
And here’s the biggest tear-jerker of all the short films that we have covered in this blog. This 4-minute advert by Bank Rakyat, Malaysia’s largest Islamic cooperative bank, underscores the countless blessings, unwavering love, and deep sense of security that’s found in a father’s presence.
The film revolves around a somewhat arrogant man, who hesitates to even hold his old father’s hand. But a rather unexpected encounter with a young boy at the mosque not only changes his perspective towards life and his father but also leaves him with immense guilt and regret for mistreating his father.
If your eyes don’t well up after seeing this short film, you’re probably a robot!
Wrapping Up
And that’s a wrap of some of the most touching Southeast Asian Eid 2025 short films. Compared to an advert, a short film allows the creators the luxury of covering many more facets of a situation with greater ease. However, the core idea remains the same, which is building an ad campaign upon the foundation of a good concept. As long as you have got that covered, dishing out impressive short films like the ones covered in this blog wouldn’t seem too daunting.
