5 Profound Malaysian Eid 2024 Commercials That Pushed The Boundaries of Storytelling

We covered some of the most poignant Southeast Asian Eid 2024 commercials in our blog last week. And while I was doing my research for these ads, I couldn’t help but appreciate the storytelling of Malaysian commercials. Malaysian adverts tend to follow a very compact storyline, which is usually loaded with a deep message. Malaysian Eid 2024 commercials are no exception in that regard.

So, without wasting another moment, let’s take a look at some of the best Malaysian Eid commercials from this year that stood out for their compelling storytelling.

1. CelcomDigi: Siri ‘Bukalah Hati’

Fasting during Ramadan takes a lot of discipline and sincerity. But when you open your heart to other cultures, nothing is impossible.

Malaysian telecom company CelcomDigi released three beautiful adverts this Eid, which explored the beauty of sincerity, openness, and acceptance. While I wasn’t too pleased with the third advert of this series, the first two are worth watching.

The first ad, titled ‘Sabar, Cikgu’, revolves around a teacher named Saresh, who decides to fast along with his students to keep their spirits high. Will Saresh manage to keep his promise to his students or will his determination falter mid-way? Watch this advert to find out!

The second advert titled ‘Pulangkan Kasih’ revolves around a young woman who visits her parents with her husband and child to celebrate Eid with them. But it seems like her father isn’t too happy to host them. Will her father open his heart for his daughter and accept them? Or is this Eid going to be a rather forgetful one for her this year? Watch the ad to know what happens!

2. KFC Malaysia: Landasan Kenangan

We often fail to appreciate the small things in life. The time that we get to spend with our families is often very short and yet we take it for granted. But a walk down memory lane is enough to make us appreciate its significance.

This advert by KFC Malaysia shows a woman reminiscing her days with her father and recalling what it was like to celebrate Eid with him. But as she fondly remembers her time with her father, she is also busy creating memories with her daughter as the mother-daughter duo breaks their Ramadan fast with KFC!

3. Malaysia Aviation Group: Buat Yang Cekal Berkhidmat

We often fail to appreciate the efforts that others make to serve us. Their sacrifices ensure that we get to spend time with our families and loved ones. The people associated with the aviation industry are one such lot.

This beautiful ad by the  Malaysia Aviation Group shows an elderly woman thanking a cabin crew member. While it’s not clear initially why she’s thanking her, it later becomes evident that she is grateful for the services rendered by the crew member and many others like her to ensure that others get to be with their families on Eid even if it means that they would be spending Eid without their families and loved ones.

Now that really warrants a big THANK YOU!

4. Hong Leong Bank: Amal

The fundamentals of almost every religion are enshrined in doing good for the community. This commercial by Malaysia’s Hong Leong Bank focuses on how the real spirit of Eid lies in helping others.

The ad revolves around four siblings who are sent on errands. While they don’t understand the significance of these tasks, their uncle later reveals to them that their grandfather wanted them to run these errands. It turns out that their grandfather wanted them to inculcate within them the feeling of doing good by everyone. Well, he can surely rest in peace knowing that his grandchildren didn’t fail him.

5. Affin: Follow You Back For

This advert by the Malaysian general insurer Affin is somewhat similar to the ‘Pulangkan Kasih’ advert by CelcomDigi that we mentioned above. The only difference is that in this case, it’s the boy’s family, especially his father, who has issues with their would-be daughter-in-law.

The ad revolves around Anna, who accompanies her boyfriend Aliff to his home on Eid. But since they aren’t married yet, Aliff’s father doesn’t take too kindly to Anna’s presence in his house. Watch the challenges faced by Anna in her bid to please her would-be in-laws. Will Anna succeed in cementing her place in their hearts or give up?

Wrapping Up

And that was a wrap of some of the best Malaysian Eid 2024 commercials. Malaysian adverts have made a name for themselves when it comes to creating compelling storylines. And the ads covered in this blog bear ample testimony to that.

We’ll be back with more wonderful commercials for you. Till then, stay tuned!
