Nothing, I repeat nothing, beats a Christmas advert with a combination of Santa and children as recurring themes. Christmas elements like elves, reindeers, Christmas carols and trees, nutcrackers, and snow and snowflakes are some of the must-have ingredients for a successful Christmas commercial, as they are highly likely to appeal to kids and adults alike.
So, here are 5 wonderful Christmas 2024 ads that kids and kids-at-heart will love.
1. Toyota: Naughty List
Toyota launched a funny 60-second spot this Christmas that plays upon a child’s worst fear- not getting any gifts from Santa!
The ad showcases a kid named Mateo going about undoing all his naughty acts over the year to ensure that Santa doesn’t turn his back on him on Christmas. And boy, the kid is full of mischief.
Watch the ad to see how the lad goes about rectifying all his cheeky activities from the year along with his father.
2. Woolworths: Make this Christmas a Classic
Australian supermarket and retail chain Woolworths kicked off its Christmas 2024 ad campaign with a beautiful spot that captures the magic of classic Aussie Christmas traditions.
The ad revolves around a young girl who is eagerly waiting for Santa and is concerned that he may not be able to find them. So, she rallies the local community with the help of her friends to build a huge carrot in a field. When the sun sets and families gather around to feast upon the delicious fresh Aussie food, the giant carrot lights up the sky.
Now, isn’t that an ingenious way to let Santa know where to stop?
3. Meijer: Holiday Behind The Curtain
In our last Christmas blog on the funny Christmas 2024 commercials, we saw in the ad by Boots UK that Santa’s entire gifting operation is taken care of by Mrs. Santa. Well, this 30-second spot by the American supercenter chain Meijer shows that Santa, just like any other husband, is also responsible for getting the household groceries.
The advert opens with Santa receiving a text from his better half to get milk just when he’s about to wrap up his business for the day. Upon visiting the Meijer store, Santa, who is probably overwhelmed by the available options, buys a bagful of items- except milk.
When he gets home, Mrs. Claus asks about the milk, prompting him to go back to the store to get it!
4. Asda: Gnome of Christmas
British supermarket chain Asda has launched a lovely 90-second spot as part of its Christmas 2024 ad campaign, featuring a team of garden gnomes who rise up from the snow to save Christmas.
The ad kicks off with two Asda colleagues, Maggie and Bill, looking out from the store into a massive snowstorm. Maggie is clearly worried, noticing that every road is blocked between them and Sheffield and wondering how they’ll get the store ready for Christmas. But Bill, seasoned and calm, picks up a gnome and presses its nose, causing it to light up in green. That simple action sends a signal to hundreds of other gnomes scattered across gardens, pub shelves, and tower blocks nationwide, all answering the call for help.
Soon enough, the gnome team arrives at Maggie and Bill’s store, rolling up their sleeves to transform the place into a Christmas wonderland. As the sun starts to rise, Max, the head gnome, declares that it’s "time to go Gnome," and the tiny heroes load up into Asda delivery vans, leaving the store perfectly prepped and ready for Christmas.
Wow! I wonder if these gnomes would also lend us a hand for activities other than Christmas preparations!
5. McDonald's Philippines: Bring Out The Child In You
And here’s my favorite ad from this list and the one that best sums up the theme of this article.
McDonalds Philippines released a heartwarming advert this Christmas that shows two young boys immersing themselves in the Christmas festivities. From getting their pictures clicked with a Santa statue to testing their singing skills at an open mic, the boys seem to be having the time of their lives.
When their car stops at the McDonalds drive thru, the car’s windows roll down to reveal McDonald’s Chairman George Yang and singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan, who are seen placing their order.
The message of the ad is simple- stay young at heart!
6. Coca-Cola: The World Needs More Santas
And here is a bonus advert for you. Coca-Cola relaunched its “The World Needs More Santas” campaign from last year.
The ad shows daily-life ‘Santas’ engaging in little acts of kindness. From giving someone the last Coca-Cola bottle in the kiosk to holding the door for someone, we see people helping and being kind to each other, thereby, living up to the spirit of Christmas.
Wrapping Up
And that’s a wrap of the best Christmas 2024 ads. The method of combining Santa, children, and other Christmas-themes is a tried-and-tested one. And if you are planning to launch your Christmas campaign, you can give it a shot.
Or you can take a leaf out of other wonderful Christmas 2024 commercials that we’ll be covering in our upcoming blogs. Till then, stay tuned!
