[Marketing Guru Video Series] 3 Best Practices for Email Marketing

Updated: Aug 31, 2020

Email marketing is one of the most effective digital marketing channels and brings in the highest ROI compared to other digital marketing channels.

So what are the key areas to look out for? Eu Gene Ang, lead trainer at ClickAcademy Asia, shares 3 best practices for email marketing.

Getting proper permissions

Ensuring that you have the consent of your audience is very important. Making your audience opt-in is the best way to ensure your subscribers are dedicated and willing to receive your campaigns. Not only is it good practice to use a confirmation step in your subscriber process, but privacy laws also require it.

Matching expectations

Make sure your subject title is relevant and not misleading. If it's for a discount on your product, then ensure that the email leads to the right offers. If the audience has signed up for a weekly newsletter, ensure that they do not get three emails in a week. If people are expecting to get something from you then they will open it.

Segmentation of the database

Segment the subscribers into different groups based on their characteristics, location, interests, behaviour, purchase history, etc. This will help you in sending relevant emails and increase open rates, clickthrough rates and conversion.
